Artic with his partner Tecnored and the Cooperativa Telefónica de San Martín de Los Andes (Cotesma) will deploy an underwater fiber optic trunk link that will cross 8 km of Lake Meliquina in the province of Neuquén, and will allow to provide broadband Internet in the town of Villa Meliquina.
Meliquina is a lake of glacial origin located in the Lácar department (Neuquen), which occupies a wide valley perpendicular to the Andes Mountains. The decision to cross Lake Meliquina with underwater FO responds to the fact that its southern coast is located within the Lanín National Park, making it impossible to carry out an aerial laying work of FO.
The underwater link will be made with a special cable provided by Artic, which is capable of maintaining the state of the fibers in minimum stresses of tension and curvature, in the operating environment, something that provides reliability and quality in the provision of the service.
The investment made by Cotesma together with its partners Artic and Tecnored will benefit both the inhabitants and the tourists of one of the most visited areas of Argentine Patagonia..
